Affiliate Disclosure

Last updated: September 3, 2026

Digital Life Compass currently has no affiliate relationships, and articles contain no affiliate links. Nothing on this site earns a commission when you click it or buy something.

What an affiliate link is

An affiliate link is a link that pays the website owner a commission if you buy something after clicking it. They are extremely common on technology sites, and they are not inherently dishonest — but they do create a financial reason to recommend one product over another, which is why disclosing them matters.

If that ever changes

Affiliate links will be clearly disclosed on the pages where they appear, at the top of the article rather than in fine print at the bottom. They will never cost you anything extra. They will never influence what I recommend, and I will not add an affiliate link to an existing article as a way of quietly monetizing a recommendation I already made.

If a product is the right answer and it has no affiliate program, it stays the recommendation. If a product I would not recommend pays well, it does not appear.

How I make recommendations

My recommendations are based on my own experience and testing wherever possible, and on primary sources — vendor documentation, security bulletins, and first-party announcements — where hands-on testing isn’t practical. The Editorial Policy explains how articles are researched, reviewed, and kept current, and the Advertising Disclosure covers how advertising works here.
